I met Isabella years ago when she asked me to photograph and film some promotional and athlete profile material. Isabella is an accomplished sailer (and cookbook author) so I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding. She and Adam met through sailing so it would only make sense that they get married on a sail boat!
The wedding day was bright and sunny with a nice breeze on shore. Everyone was dressed to match the nautical themed wedding and we met at the Vancouver Royal Yacht Club in Point Grey. I’ve frequented this spot many times to film and take photos for Isabella, but it has never been nearly as beautiful a day. We boarded the ship and set off toward English Bay where we would drop anchor and perform the ceremony. It was a very intimate ceremony out in the middle of the bay paying homage to Isabella and Adam’s love of sailing.
The reception was held at The Settlement Building with food and drink provided by The Belgard Kitchen, Vancouver Urban Winery, and Postmark Brewing. It was such an amazing, fun filled night. Bellies were kept full and glasses were topped up throughout the evening. Isabella and Adam both adore jazz music so they asked the wonderfully talented Jill Barber to come and perform for them and their guests at their wedding. She has such a beautiful, almost tantalizing, voice!
Sailing, amazing food, wine, one of my favourite breweries, and to top it all off a live performance from a world renowned jazz artist! This has got to be one of the best weddings I’ve ever been apart of. Congratulations to Isabella and Adam!
