Planning a wedding is not easy – especially when you live on the other side of the world in Shanghai! I first “met” Celina and Omar about a year before their wedding via a video call on FaceTime. Countless emails and whatsapp conversations later and we finally had the chance to meet face to face a week before their big day. We immediately hit it off when we met for their engagement session which just felt like reconnecting with old friends.
Celina and Omar decided to have their morning prep for the big day at the Civic Hotel in the heart of Surrey at the newly developed Surrey Central Neighbourhood. I spent the first few moments getting acquainted with everyone then it was straight to photographing details while Celina had her hair and makeup done. It was an emotional morning filled with excitement for the nuptials to come.
On the groom’s side, things were much more relaxed. As usual, they were pretty much all dressed and ready to roll by the time we got there so I just left Ryan to do his thing… which meant following the guys to the bar to grab a few drinks. Before long, it was time for Omar to head over to retrieve his bride for a quick tea ceremony. Following the tea ceremony, Omar and the guys made their way to Swaneset for more photos and to oversee the set up of the venue. Meanwhile, the girls stayed behind to help Celina into her white dress. Celina looked stunning in her a line wedding dress with a super cute sweetheart neckline.
The wedding ceremony took place on the back lawn of Swaneset Resort overlooking the immaculate fairway. It was the hottest day of the year on the May long weekend, but everyone was there and more than happy to celebrate the union of these two beautiful people.
Following the ceremony, we did a few group photos with friends and family before quickly whisking the wedding party away for more photos! Celina and Omar gave me full control over photo locations, which I was so grateful for! We started off with the typical shots around the venue to showcase Swaneset, then we went off the beaten path while staying within the venue walls to show what the gorgeous property really has to offer. My eyes led me down into the forest to a nice secluded spot basked in some glorious late afternoon spring sunshine.
Once our photos were done, we headed back to the main hall to kick off the reception. Celina and Omar spent the evening listening to touching toasts from their closest friends and family. It was so important for the two of them to be able to really spend time with all their guests and I was right there to capture it all.
Celina and Omar, thank you again for choosing me to photograph your special day. It was truly an honour to have met the two of you and I can’t wait to see you again when you come back to visit!
