When I think back to Kimberly and Duc’s wedding last summer, the things that come to mind are fun and tons and tons of laughter.
The day started off bright and early. We arrived at Hycroft just as the doors were opening and got started right away with the morning prep. Kim had arrived with her hair and makeup finished – it was done up in an elegant updo and her skin looked absolutely flawless. I quickly grabbed her dress and shoes, set them up in the green room and photographed them before her and her bridesmaids went to town.
On the other side of the house, Duc was finishing up writing his one year letter to his soon to be wife before getting ready with his buds. Kim and Duc had promised to write letters to each other to be sealed away in a box and revisit them on their wedding anniversary – so sweeeeet!
The ceremony was held on the terrace and guests were beginning to trickle in. I gave Kim and Duc some time alone and headed downstairs to get some photos of the mingling guests. Hycroft is such a beautiful venue and with the morning summer light, it did not disappoint. Before long, the ceremony had started and everyone was in place to watch these two say their vows. It was such a joy to watch Kim and Duc tell each other how much they mean to each other through the tears and laughter.
Once the papers were signed and the family photos were taken, we had some time to ourselves in the beautiful gardens of Hycroft. We had about an hour to photograph the wedding party on the grounds at Hycroft so we fully took advantage of every location that time would permit. When we finished up, we headed across town to Jericho Beach Park where we joined up with some of Kim and Duc’s other close friends. Out came the bubbles and the silliness as we carried on with our bridal party photos! We wrapped up our session at the park with a few intimate photos with the bride and groom on the wooden bride, then we were off to the reception at Kirin Starlight in New Westminster.
Kim and Duc had the restaurant tastefully decorated and went through the trouble of installing a bouncy castle for the kids as well as candy bar and a shaved ice station for dessert! I won’t go into the details of the events throughout the night as the photos pretty much speak for themselves. All I have to say is that a good time was had by everyone who attended and we were all thoroughly entertained. Kim and Duc, thank you so much for sharing your goofy sides with me and having me to photograph such an incredible day in your lives!
