Last spring, I had the opportunity to travel to Toronto and photograph a wedding at one of the city’s most notable landmarks, Casa Loma. I’ve known Creighton pretty much all my life. He, my brother and I attended the same music academy in Vancouver where we learned to play the violin. I traded in my violin for a judo gi as soon as my mom gave me the chance, but my brother and Creighton continued playing and practicing well into their teens. Fast forward twenty-odd years and Creighton, my brother and I are reunited!
Creighton and Nhu-y are HUGE Game of Thrones fans, which is why they chose Casa Loma as their wedding venue. Their engagement was inspired by Game of Thrones and their Golden Doodle is named after a Game of Thrones character – Drogo (@drogoldendoodle on instagram). Nhu-y walked down the isle to “Light of the Seven” from season 6 of GOT, played by Creighton on his violin… so yeah, they’re huge GOTies.
I’ve been told by everyone that Casa Loma was a beautiful venue and seeing it in real life, it did not disappoint! The ceremony was held in the conservatory, which was surrounded by windows and adorned with giant pillars and a beautiful stained glass skylight. Guests enjoyed a feast of a cocktail hour in the great hall which boasts a giant fireplace and 60 foot tall ceilings. The reception took place in the walnut lined walls of the dining hall and library. Guests indulged in a delicious four course plated dinner while entertained by the wedding party’s hilarious stories of the bride and groom.
Creighton has always been know to throw the best parties back home in “the cave” and his wedding day did not disappoint. Friends and family flew in from all over to celebrate this day and as you can tell from the photos, everyone had a great time!
C + N, thank you again for including me in your wedding day!
