Andrew and Laura had their wedding on top of the Sea to Sky Gondola in beautiful Squamish, BC. It’s a place that I hold very near and dear to my heart because just a week prior to their wedding, I proposed to my fiancé at that very spot! But this post is not about me, it’s about them! Andrew and Laura wanted to get married surrounded by the beauty of nature and share a piece of them with their friends and family. This gorgeous venue along with the rustic decor was the perfect way to represent their love of adventure and the outdoors.
I woke up in Squamish to a mostly cloudy sky and little patches of blue poking through, but I knew this wouldn’t be the case up on the mountain. I met up with Andrew at the bottom of the gondola and we took the first ride up to get him set up for his first little peek at his bride to be. The ride up the mountain was quiet and tranquil as we watched the scenery change from clear skies and lush green forests to a misty mountain with snow capped conifers. We were the first ones up at the lookout (aside from the staff) and had the whole place to ourselves. I got some quick portraits of Andrew, then we stood by and awaited his first look at Laura in her beautiful gown.
I got a text from below letting me know that Laura was on her way up. I tucked myself away to let them have their little moment. Laura arrived and, as you can tell from the photos, she looked absolutely stunning! After their first look, we *carefully* walked across the icy suspension bridge to take a few more portraits of just the two of them. The wedding was at the end of April, but we had such a cold winter this year. There was still TONS of snow on the ground and it was so foggy that we didn’t get to make the most of gorgeous scenery.
After their portraits, we went inside the lodge to warm up and prepare for the ceremony as guests were starting to arrive. They were originally supposed to have their ceremony outdoors on the deck overlooking the beautiful Howe Sound, but due to the weather, we had to quickly move everything indoors (it started snowing). Nevertheless, it was still a beautiful ceremony with a close friend of theirs acting as the celebrant.
Following the ceremony, the room was quickly flipped for the reception while we did family portraits outdoors as the snow had stopped just in time. Andrew and Laura went straight into their first dance to kick off the reception we their guests enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Sea to Sky kitchen.
The afternoon was full of good food and even better stories of the happy couple told by their friends and family. After the last speech, I looked outside and noticed that the sky had cleared up just in time to finish the afternoon off. Andrew and Laura stepped outside to take in the beautiful view and enjoy a nice little quiet moment to reflect on all that had happened in such a short amount of time.
A&L, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day with me! This day wouldn’t have been able to pulled off without the mastermind, Stephanie Reitsma and her super talented team at Sweatheart Events
