I’d like to introduce you all to Mr. and Mrs. Matrick. You may remember them as my biggest fans from our engagement session this past spring. Lynette (and Chadley) have been looking forward to having me photograph their special day since before we even met, and when did finally meet, there was an instant connection. Their wedding day took place on a beautiful autumn day in October. Lynette and Chadley had planned a fall wedding because they didn’t want to suffer through the scorching heat of Vancouver summer days and they absolutely love all the fall colours. Luckily, the weather was more than cooperative for their wedding.
Our day began at Lynette’s family’s beautiful home in Surrey. As per my usual wedding morning routine, I went to take a look around the house for some good photo op locations and came across the massive backyard basked in the glorious morning sunlight. I immediately asked Lynette if it would be alright to bring her dress and intricately handmade details outside to be photographed and I’m glad I did because it was just the perfect setting.
Once the morning preparations were complete, we headed over to St Matthew’s Parish Cathedral where guests were already starting to roll in for the ceremony. It was a beautiful cathedral filled with natural light and they were wedded by Father Tien Tran.
Following the ceremony was our portrait session at Redwood Park in Surrey. I’d been discussing photo locations with Lynette and Redwoods was the perfect area for us since it was so close to both the ceremony and reception locations. I remember this day so clearly because the weather was just absolutely gorgeous all day. Lynette had told me about a magnificent tree in the park that looked as if it was “straight out of Middle Earth” and we just had to use it in the photos. We managed to find this fabled tree quite easily and it was everything we’d imagined it to be. Our portrait session finished off with some family photos outside of Northview Golf Course.
With all the portraits and family photos taken care of, it was time for a night of celebration at the Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey. The venue was perfectly decorated and included a plethora of DIY touches such as the signing table and photo booth. Lynette’s attention to detail and appreciation of fine arts really showed through with all the decorations. The night was filled with some very heart warming speeches. I especially remember one tear jerking speech from Chadley’s mother which involved the displaying of his pristine teddy bear whom he had never played with as a toddler.
Lynette and Chadley, it was such an honour being your photographer and I am eternally grateful for the faith and trust you put into me for capturing all the emotions and details of your day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
