Reneta and I had been emailing back and forth just a week before their pre wedding session. Her and Kinson live in Hong Kong, but spent their earlier years here in Vancouver. They got engaged over Easter and were flying back in to Vancouver to attend a couple of weddings this spring and wanted to take advantage of that time and have a photo session with me!
In Reneta’s first email to me, her requirement for this shoot was, “Scenery, Scenery and more Scenery”. She loves the lush green forests of British Columbia as well as any large bodies of water. After some discussion, we decided to make the drive out to Golden Ears Provincial Park in Maple Ridge. We met at the parking lot near North Beach and were greeted by a swarm of mosquitoes, but that didn’t stop us from having a blast!
Our session started off in the forest along the west canyon trail – the mosquitoes tagged along as well. The overcast day created the perfect shade of green under the thick canopy of trees. After navigating our way through the trees with Reneta in her heels, we made our way back down the path for an outfit change and some photos by the river. Reneta was SO keen on getting into the water… until she felt how cold it was. Next, we made our way down to Alouette Lake, where she was ever MORE keen on getting into the water and managed to convince Kinson to get in with her. So after chasing some geese around, we finished our session with a nice and refreshing dip into the lake.
I haven’t had this much fun during a shoot in a while. Kinson and Reneta, thank you for such an wonderful evening out in the wilderness and I wish you two a safe journey back to Hong Kong!
