I’ve known Nate for as long as I can remember. We grew up in the same church and he was friends with my older brother. We’ve since lost touch so it was a nice surprise when I got an email from him asking about wedding photography.
A few weeks go by and I finally have the chance to meet with him and his fiancé, Miranda and catch up on all that’ve happened over the years.
Before long, September had rolled on by and it was time for our engagement session. When we met a few months prior, I’d learned that ice cream dates was something Nate and Miranda often enjoyed doing so we wanted to fit that into our session. I also learned that Nate had/has an obsession with airplanes and that plane watching was one of the dates they’d been on recently. With that information in my grasp, I knew exactly where we would go for our session.
We started off with exploring the farther ends of Iona Beach in Richmond. Both Nate and I are avid road cyclists so we know the Iona TT segment quite well, but we’ve never travelled past the pavement. After exploring the farther end of the beach, we made our way up onto the infamous “poo pipe” to get some photos of the planes coming down to land. We’d made it there just in time for “rush hour” so there were a lot of models of air planes to chose from for our photos.
Up next, we drove over to the BCIT Aerospace Campus to get a few shots in front of the glass hangar and had some fun pretending to fly around.
We finished off this super fun session with a little sweet treat at Earnest Ice Cream located conveniently across the street from my home. Nate and Miranda, it was such a pleasure photographing the two of you and learning all about planes even though we got devoured by mosquitoes. I can’t wait to see you guys again for the wedding in November!
